Après Design – Illuminating Silver Star!

Light shapes how we sleep, how we age, how we perceive colour, as well as how we relate to the natural world around us. Yet lighting is often treated as an afterthought, rather than one of the most powerful design decisions we make.

Join us for the first public event hosted at the Silver Star Design Centre: Après Design – Illuminating Silver Star: This is a community conversation exploring how thoughtful lighting design can support human health, protect wildlife, preserve star-filled skies, and elevate the experience of Silver Star homes and shared spaces. We welcome contributers Kassia Giroux and Willy Raine who will each give a short presentation beginning at 4 pm as well as facilitate a group Q & A. This will be followed by conversation and connection. Feel free to arrive early or linger longer and take in the furniture showroom aspect as well as view our artist and artisan works.

The conversation will be shaped by who’s in the room, so please be sure to register. You can expect to leave with new insight, fresh perspective, and a deeper appreciation for how light and darkness shape our daily lives.

About Our Contributors

Symmetry Lighting is a British Columbia–based lighting agency serving architects and designers across the province, providing technical design support, product specification, budgeting, and lighting and control system integration.

The conversation will be supported by Kassia Giroux, BC’s Interior Specification Lighting Specialist, who works closely with architects, engineers, and interior designers to translate lighting intent into thoughtful, real-world solutions. Kassia is also an active skier and a freestyle ski coach at Big White, bringing lived mountain experience to her technical work.

Sundial Lighting has been a trusted lighting resource in the North Okanagan for over 50 years, supporting homeowners, designers, and builders with vetted, Canadian-compliant lighting solutions across residential and commercial applications.

Owner Willy Raine, a former Canadian Olympic alpine skier and national-level coach, brings decades of experience working in ski communities such as Whistler and Sun Peaks. He has a deep, generational connection to mountain environments.

Registered attendees will receive a complimentary Après Design hot beverage from Buggaboos, valid the day of the event between 3:30 & 4:00 pm.
