  • Meet the Bands: 5 Must-See Free Concerts at Silver Star This Summer

Picture this: it’s a sunny Saturday at Silver Star. Maybe you’ve spent the morning hiking through the forest or cutting laps in SilverStar Bike Park. Now, with a cold drink in hand and views of the Monashee Mountains stretched out before you, a guitar riff cuts through the hum of the Village. The music’s started–and so has the party.

That’s right, the Silver Star Summer Music Series is back! Every Saturday this summer, different artists will take to the Nokian Community Stage with free live performances. From classic rock ‘n’ roll and synth-pop to jazz and acoustic folk, a rotating lineup of Canadian artists will keep the good vibes–and your feet–moving all afternoon. Read on for five of our most anticipated music events of the summer.

Opening Weekend – June 21st

The Silver Star Summer Music Series officially kicks off on June 21st, coinciding with the Opening Weekend of SilverStar Bike Park. Come up for fresh laps on hero dirt and soak in the buzz of the mountain. It’s also Slay the Dragon weekend, an annual trail running race with three distances to choose from. Cheer on the runners as they tackle the thigh-burning singletrack, or sign up and join the challenge yourself.

Capping off the action, not one but three artists will step into the spotlight, providing the perfect soundtrack to an epic weekend. Lone Valley Band brings a timeless acoustic sound, inspired by the wide-open spaces and freedom of their B.C roots. They’re joined by New Brunswick’s Sam Salmon, and local musician Sidney Bos, to keep the beat alive all afternoon.

Garret T. Willie – June 28th

Bursting out of his home in Alert Bay, ’Namgis First Nation, B.C., Garret T Willie has hit the music scene by storm. After spending his youth studying the greats, Willie’s style has developed as a fusion of classic rock and hardscrabble blues that feels a lot more mature than his 25 years. Think gravelly, hard-hitting lyrics and raw talent on the guitar. His debut album Same Pain earned critical acclaim, and his upcoming set at Silver Star is already generating plenty of excitement.

The Boom Booms – July 12th

Bring your dancing shoes this week as The Boom Booms return to the stage at Silver Star. A local favourite from Vancouver, this 5-piece band of brothers bring unmatched energy and tightly woven vocals to the Village. They’re supported by Pickle Juice, an up-and-coming alternative band from Revelstoke, musician MSTRBSTRD, and DJ Miss Demeanour, who’ll keep the party going all evening.

This Saturday isn’t just about the music—it also marks the return of the annual Women’s Bombshell Enduro bike race. Come out early to catch the action as some of the region’s most fearless female riders take on the trails.

Apollo Suns – August 2nd

This week brings something a little different: a 7-piece instrumental collective known as Apollo Suns. Coming all the way from Winnipeg, Manitoba, their sound is a high-octane blend of psychedelic, jazz, and rock. Known for past performances at local favourites like the Salmon Arm Roots & Blues Festival, they’re bringing their vibrant music to Silver Star this weekend.

This promises to be another big weekend at Silver Star, as the Crankworx Summer Series will be in full swing. The best mountain bike riders from around the world will be at Silver Star competing in Downhill, Pump Track, Dual Slalom, and a FMB Gold Level Men’s and Women’s Slopestyle event.

538st – September 6th

The final week of the Music Series coincides with one of the most popular events of the season: Silver Star’s signature Beer & Cider Fest. Now in its fourth year, local brewers will gather in the Village, ready to share their take on BC’s best brew. While you don’t need a festival ticket to enjoy the live music, the weekend’s featured artist is one not to miss. Meet 538st, a dynamic brother duo from Kelowna, B.C., blending hip-hop, jazz, and funk. Since forming in 2019, Sam and Jake Cooke have been turning heads with their infectious energy, genre-bending style, and unforgettable live shows.

They’ll be closing out the Silver Star Music Series with Silver Star favourite Steven Marriott, folk/rock band the Bushmen, and DJ Miss Demeanour. Get ready to dance.
